American stand-up comedian W. Kamau Bell recently garnered undeserved attention for calling on Olympian gold medalist Michael Phelps to step down and allow a woman of color to carry the flag at the opening ceremony.
In what can only be described as contorted logic and using the standard victimhood shaming method, Bell audaciously said, “Ibtihaj Muhammad carrying the flag would be much bigger than your one moment. It would be a symbol for our country in this moment when we are mostly known for one of the most contentious, controversial, scandal-ridden, hateful, xenophobic, jingoistic and just generally unlikable presidential elections in recent memory. This is at a time when we could use some more symbols of unity and togetherness.”
Kamau Bell strikes me as another cut-out actor or player who has been given a Hegelian dialect soap box by the (((usual suspects))). He is a regularly on CNN and has made that circuit as host of the CNN original series “United Shades of America,” which debuted on April 24. Among his other gigs was co-hosting the podcast “The Field Negro Guide to Arts & Culture” from 2010 to 2014 and “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell” on FXX.
Bell is hardly a person who brought himself up by his bootstraps from an unprivileged background. He grew up in Alabama and Chicago, the son of Walter Bell, who served as Alabama’s Insurance Commissioner and chairman of Swiss Re America Holding Corporation. His mother ran a self-publishing firm. This man had more “privilege” than 99% of the whites in America.
Watch this guy here in action. He is totally overrated and really not that funny. Unlike many of the great black comedians, there is little reaction to him from the audience, which seems to respond more out of political correctness. His line about blacks being in danger when they leave the house needs to be clarified and sounds like innuendo.
Do you mean whites kill black men, Kamau? He is either woefully ignorant or a liar, and I suggest it is both.
