Reddit Bans Forum Dedicated To Exposing Hate Crime Hoaxes

ZERO HEDGE — The same day Reddit removed the site’s largest pro-Trump forum, the liberal platform also banned a popular subreddit dedicated to exposing hate crime hoaxes, according to the Daily Caller.

Apparently calling out people who stoke racial division by faking hate crimes is considered to be “promoting hate” by Reddit’s overlords.

Reddit users who keep tabs on potential hate crime hoaxes via the popular subreddit are met with a label notifying them that “r/hatecrimehoaxes has been banned from Reddit.” The page also notes that the page was banned for “violating Reddit’s rule against promoting hate.”

An archived version of the page from July 2 indicates the subreddit was banned June 30, the same day Reddit blocked “The_Donald” subreddit as the platform began enforcing its recent rules against promoting hate. –Daily Caller

  1. Readers may be interested in this site: a very current database of fake hate crimes:

    fakehatecrimes.org

it’s a database with links of just that – well documented/authenticated fake hate crimes – many entries begin “police now say…” etc

someone is doing heroic work there – last entry is July 9: “Texas A&M police say student who reported racists notes placed them there himself” – lots of these, as might be expected, occur at universities and colleges – time was, if you were a minority student facing a dreaded exam or deadline, you could shut the place down by enacting a fake hate crime … maybe not now… but they are shut down anyway.

Lots of the fakers are caught by surveillance cameras … which cut both ways, it seems.

    • Wow, what a resource! Thanks

Yes, it seems pretty comprehensive: via the search function, I found every notorious (to me) case I remembered, including the Jewish community center bomb threats, and where the Iraqi “refugee” in San Diego claimed the killing of his wife was a “hate” crime — he was later convicted of her murder.
