Same policy as in Thailand. I´m a traveler for more than 20 yrs. I arrived in Bangkok airport in 2017, and was almost arrested too for not having booked a hotel room before my plane took off. It so puzzled me I started laughing out loud. Apparently this calmed them down a bit, and I was let loose after someone told me in broken English: Madam, welcome Thailand. Madam no problem. Madam go in Bangkok.

I am in Florida , and every hotel is full and mostly booked out. Especially near Orlando, we have had 3 weekends of basketball tournaments for my son, and the hotels are all booked in Orlando for the most part.
