Ray Gun: The Olympic Break Dancing Spoof

I personally think high level break dancing is a great sport. It is primarily a male endeavor. I enjoy it immensely. Here is an example. Takes athleticism, strength and flexibility.

Enter one Ray Gun (Rachael Gunn), 36,  a self described Australian academic in “the cultural politics of breakdancing”. Her PhD thesis was titled ‘Deterritorializing Gender in Sydneys Breakdancing Scene: a B-girl’s experience of B-boying’ The thesis critically investigated how “masculinist practices of breakdancing” provided an environment to challenge gender norms.

Have a look shall we. That’s her voice in the beginning describing her philosophy. After this breakdancing will not be at the 2028 Olympics.

I suggest Ray Gun is a spoof and a psyops designed to tarnish this sport. It is also gaslighting. Of course par for the course it is the critics who are being smeared and guilt tripped.

Australia’s Chef de Mission, Anna Meares, issued public support Saturday for her performance–

“I love Rachael, and I think that what has occurred on social media with trolls and keyboard warriors, and taking those comments and giving them airtime, has been really disappointing,” Meares said at a news conference, according to ESPN. “Raygun is an absolutely loved member of this Olympic team. She has represented the Olympic team, the Olympic spirit with great enthusiasm. And I absolutely love her courage. I love her character, and I feel very disappointed for her, that she has come under the attack that she has.” — Oh come on!

The reactions and imitations that followed are priceless though. This one is hilarious.

She quickly became the focus of memes and jokes on social media. “I’d like to personally thank Raygun for making millions of people worldwide think ‘huh, maybe I can make the Olympics too,'” one user wrote on X, alongside a photo of Raygun’s Olympic performance.

I have a hunch “to raygun” will enter the vocabulary.

The online criticisms of Gunn’s performance led her to defend her skills, telling reporters that what she brought to her performance was “creativity.” On social media, some users dubbed one move by Gunn “the kangaroo,” while others compared her dance moves to when a child asks you to watch their performance.

  1. I hope I don’t sound like some kind of a multicultural weirdo for saying this but….this CRAP here, more than any of the other degenerate, pathetic, rigged, etc. things I’ve seen shared in clips has actually really pissed me off!

  2. Back in the early to mid 80s when break dancing was getting to its real high point, it was very popular with all of us kids, regardless of color. I was in my early teens and as a girl, of course I did not break dance. There were some goofy girls, the tomboy types, not very attractive, who would goof off and try to emulate the moves right there with the guys.
They looked foolish. I don’t give one frog’s fat fanny if females are good at this – it’s for MALES!
It was an incredibly special time and I was very fortunate with where I grew up and went to school in Southern New jersey. With the kind of neighborhood it was, typical upper middle class suburb, all socioeconomic ranges mixed in, and yes, there is an extension of the town where almost entirely blacks lived. A more modest part with older homes, a lot needing work, but very clean and well kept. I was able to ride my bike there all summer in 1984 when I was 13 and my strict Polish Catholic mother let me. Probably the last few good years before they really heated things up by late 80s and early 90s with the Jews new anti-White, anti-cop, bitches & HOs crap rap.
Us girls loved going out to watch the guys break dance!! The WHITE boys, who were just as good or better….and CUTE, lol 😍
