Trump Appoints Psychopath General ‘Mad Dog’ Mattis as Secretary of Defense

Trump choice of Major Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis, former commander of the U.S. Central Command as U.S. Secretary of Defense is yet another fail. As you may recall, Mattis ran herd on the Iraqi occupation after the U.S. invasion, including the Battle of Fallujah. His swaggering, triumphal approach contributed to millions of Iraqis’ hate of American troops. From day one, Mattis’ squads acted as if every single Iraqi was the enemy. His radio call sign during the invasion of Iraq was “Chaos.” Connecting the rest of the dots about this selection, he is an Iran hardliner.

Mattis was pushed by neocon warmonger U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who is chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Neocon (((William Kristol))), editor of the conservative magazine The Weekly Standard had actually sought to persuade Mattis to mount an independent presidential bid.

The following quotes illustrate Mattis’ view on foreign policy. In a word: War! Iran and Russia weren’t the countries that devolved and wrecked the Middle East. In the thick of it was Mattis-type warmongers and their Zio-criminal friends — all of whom Mattis will no doubt bring along with him.

“We know that vacuums left in the Middle East seem to be filled by either terrorists or by Iran or their surrogates or Russia … In order to restore deterrence, we have to show capability, capacity and resolve.”

To quote the Ron Paul Institute:

Using our special neocon-speak translator, we see that “capability, capacity and resolve” actually means “weapons, deployments and wars.” No wonder Kristol and company are touting this man as their savior.

After retiring from the military, Mattis told Congress that the administration’s “policy of disengagement in the Middle East” had contributed to the rise of extremism in the region. He believes, for instance, that  Trump’s conciliatory statements on Russia are ill informed. Without a doubt, Mattis will be pushing for engagement with Iran, who will be a much tougher foe than Saddam Hussian ever was.

In his spare time as a civilian, Mattis was a board member of Theranos, a dicey, pump-and-dump, Silicon Valley biotech company with shady corporate governance practices. It is under criminal investigation [see Forbes’ “How Theranos Investors Were Taken“].

Mattis’ psycho-bully language has gotten him into trouble but has also garnered lots of laughs from his proto-psychopath associates. The comparison to Patton is a complete fraud, as Patton was an honorable man.

Mattis to the San Diego Union Tribune: “Actually, it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people, I’ll be right up front with you. I like brawling … You go into Afghanistan, you’ve got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway, so it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them.

“I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”

Exhibiting his love of terror in action, it was Mattis who dismissed photographic evidence of the slaughter of dozens of people by U.S. forces at an Iraqi wedding party in 2004. The wedding took place in western Iraq, and Mattis denied there had been an atrocity. He said he could not understand how a wedding could take place in the desert, so he blitzed the gathering. He did not know that the desert is home to thousands of families, settled and nomadic, who have relatives and friends in villages, towns and cities, and that these people come to visit on occasions of celebration or grief. The man portrayed his appalling ignorance of the culture and customs of the country by exclaiming, “Ten miles from the Syrian border and 80 miles from the nearest city and a wedding party? Don’t be naïve. Plus, they had 30 males of military age with them. How many people go to the middle of the desert to have a wedding party?”

In a similar vein, Mattis has also said, “There are some people who think you have to hate them in order to shoot them. I don’t think you do. It’s just business.”
