And the S-500 includes Russian operators. The Tomahawk missile used to require a forward air controller, not sure if thats still the case but if so, this means Americans are in Iran tagging the targets.
I was watching something today and researching the A10 warthog-it’s a classic cold war era piece of equipment that is built very rugged with various built in redundancy. This redundancy allows the airplane to fly on one side of its hydraulic systems alone and still maneuvre, but if it totally fails the pilot may still manually control it back to land in a friendly area.
Basically the fact that one of these was downed is significant. It received no small hit.
