In actuality the US Navy is turning back tankers from Iranian ports. This strategy works only as long as there is an expedient cease fire. As soon as the cease fire ends US naval ships and personal are exposed to attack and we are back to square one.

The remaining sycophants running the American military machine have moved the CVN Abraham Lincoln into “game of chicken” range and is flirting with danger.

In the interim the Don Tzu ploy works up until the time there is a high seas challenge or incident involving the Chinese navy protecting their oil purchases coming from an Iranian transshipment point.
The US could theoretically interdict ships ANYWHERE outside the Strait, especially since they are specifically looking to disrupt shipping primarily to China. So an incident with China could occur out in the Indian Ocean.
Then there is a narrative that the US “is supplying the world with oil”. This again is an expedient short term measure as the US is releasing oil from it’s dwindling strategic petro reserve.
Here is the expediency SPR math. 50m of the 170m planned has been released already. The remaining 120m will be delivered over four months. With 120 inbound ships at 2m barrels per, that’s 240m barrels. Assuming no sabotage US produces 13.5m per day and consumes 20.4m per day. Don Tzu’s scheme barely works in the short term, and when release is consumed you can game longer term scenarios off of that.

Since it was earlier reported that the US Navy was removing mines from the Strait, perhaps now to help them to blockade the blockage they could just put those and more mines in a straight line somewhere from Oman to Iran. Remember the movie Good Morning Vietnam with Robin Williams, when the head officer scoffed, “military intelligence, what a contradiction” (paraphrased). Great movie.
