  1. The Trump quote is an obvious fake. Nobody was talking about Fox News in 1998, and it certainly wasn’t associated with right-wing conservative politics. It had no identity, no big name on-air talent (yet), and no ratings because the overwhelming majority of cable TV providers didn’t even carry the channel. Fox News didn’t put itself on the map until the Columbine shooting in ’99, and it didn’t explode and become synonymous with “Republican” until 9/11 and the War on Terror.

These bogus quotes (which always have a ring of truth to them) are released into the wild so gullible dissidents will share them, only to have the quotes debunked and the dissidents dismissed as delusional crackpots. We’ve seen similar quotes circulating in recent years (always shown in screenshots, never with corroborating links) from George Soros, Bill Gates, Albert Bourla, Klaus Schwab, and others. “They” create the disinfo, disseminate it, then debunk it with their own Fact Check apparatus. Over and over and over.

We really need to stop falling for the stupid stuff. Especially the really obvious stupid stuff.
