We began with Trump’s threats to invade Venezuela, which could prove catastrophic for the US military (given that Russia has provided Maduro with anti-ship missiles and S-400 anti-aircraft and missile systems, which could sink every ship in the American flotilla). He and Hegseth are in hot water over the hits on Venezuelan boats in violation of the laws of the sea and of war, where there has been no interdiction, no interrogation, and no evidence these boats were carrying fentanyl as Trump and Hegseth have alleged.
There may be multiple motives at work, including wanting to control Venezuelan oil in anticipation of Iran closing the Straits of Hormuz after an anticipated new attack by Israel and the United States. Sordid stuff. Meanwhile, Putin has declared that, while Russia does not want war, if Europe wants to go to war with Russia, then Russia is ready. He adds that, once the conflict has begun, there may be no parties for Russia to negotiate with–and he means business. Lots of stories from WinterWatch.net. It was good to have Paul join us today.
