The Massive Social Security Dead Grifting Situation

The issue is real but Elon Musk is blowing these counts out of his ass.

Active steps need to be taken to remove deceased from Social Security rolls. At my father’s funeral at age 96, my brother and I took his death certificate into the local SS office and signed a form. How many don’t even bother?

Close to 20 Million people over the age of 100 are ‘collecting Social Security’ when current records show there’s only 100,000 people over the age of 100.

  1. Wouldn’t it be as simple as passing a federal law that requires all mortuary/funeral businesses to report the names of all deceased whom they handle to SSA?

    • Funeral homes do so as a courtesy if requested, but not an obligation.

“The SSA handles death reports for both Social Security and Medicare recipients. To report a death, you can do one of the following: 1. Provide the deceased person’s Social Security number to the funeral director so they can report the death to the SSA. 2. Look up and contact your local Social Security office.

  2. When my sister died @ 64 in Kona, HI I went to the bank as I had power of attorney as well as a Medical Power of Attorney, to draw out her last SS payment since it’s always in arrears for the month prior of life. The Fing SS office had already pulled the money back within a week of her death. I went back & forth with them providing death certificates, birth certificates for both of us and ‘insipid blithering’ continued on & on. In the end, the Pig Fers kept it saying I had failed to put a public obituary announcement in a newspaper. Talk about making up bureaucratic rules on the fly.

So, for the record, I had a completely opposite experience of the paying up what was truly owed.

Perhaps because so many lazy people go to Hawaii and decide to be homeless there and get food assistance and every FREE anything they can get . Basically because the climate is a great place to be homeless. Some beaches even have hot water showers. They claw back honest payments so they can flip it to give to parasites.
