  1. I blame cable TV. When was the last time you saw anyone reading a book, on TV? Only for reference or communications.

First 50, then 100, then 200 channels of nothing but crap. Garbage in; garbage out. Fast-forward forty years and we have Donald Trump leading the country. Donnie, himself shows signs of having watched ‘way too many episodes of ‘Let’s Make A Deal’, I suspect the phrase is burned into his brain at a preliterate level, like a theme song.

The Internet is just more of the same. There are threads of Something Different; just as with community cable channels, the internet offers a voice to those whom previously were denied leverage. But there’s a lot of crap that needs to be waded through, and that’s not a coincidence – that’s deliberate impedance.

The person leading our military at the cabinet level (‘Department of War Crimes’, lol) is a former TV newscaster – a weatherman, a talking head, a paid shill, a person who reads advertisements. Is this what we are picking to lead us, these days? Hardly a recommendation of intellectual capacity. I’d like to see what books Hegseth has in his office. Does he even have a bookshelf? What does he do with himself when the power is out? How does he entertain himself on long flights or when crouching in bomb shelters? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Same for David Ellison. What hath all that money wrought? Show us. Teach us. Share your wisdom.

Donald Trump wants to turn the planned Trump Presidential Library into a hotel because he doesn’t read. Not a joke.

We need to be honest. We are in the hands of subliterati

Literacy is the foundation of civilization. You cannot coordinate projects that span seasons or even generations, without writing.

I call for public IQ tests for politicians and candidates – we need to measure the stupid so that we can make an informed decision about what to do

It is almost certain that Donald Trump cheated on every IQ test he ever took. Why wouldn’t he? If you’re stupid, cheating looks smart.

I argue that being illiterate is fundamentally opposed to being intelligent and that if we want intelligent government we need to root out those whose literacy does not meet our minimum standards.

Betcha Melania is smarter than Donald

Betcha Melania has a bookshelf or two

    Food for thought
