The ‘Suicide’ of Porn Actress August Ames: Something’s Rotten in Ventura

Mercedes Grabowski (1994-2017), who went by the porno name “August Ames,” was one of the best-known female porn performers. She appeared in more than 270 films during the course of her four-year career. PornHub ranks her as No. 3 among females. And last December she turned up dead.

The narrative goes that on Dec. 5 Ames’ body was discovered hanging in a public park, approximately 20 minutes from her home in Camarillo, California. Authorities ruled her death as a suicide, and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said her death was caused by asphyxia.

Very quickly after her death, Ames’ brother, her close family, her friend Jenna Jameson and numerous media outlets stated that she had committed suicide following what they described as cyberbullying. The headline at left was run over and over again. Every news story said it was “relentless bullying” on social media that drove her to kill herself.

When we saw this event, it struck us how the lugenpresse seemed to be working off of a script, one that portrays this hardened alpha woman as so thin-skinned that she committed suicide because of cyberbullying from a group of homosexual pervert justice warriors (PJW). We have seen nothing that examines other scenarios or connects the dots on other aspects surrounding her death, such as the possibility that she could have been murdered by the gay mafia that Bill Maher alluded to.

The drama all started when she posted a tweet just two days before her death. Curiously, her twitter feed is still up [warning – adult material/NSFW]. But we went through the 246 comments that followed her first tweet, as well as the subsequent twitter feed, and it’s far from relentless cyberbulling. We were frankly surprised that the conversation, although PJW misguided, was mostly civil.

This tweet is representative and as you can see, it hardly constitutes cyberbullying. But you don’t have to take the lugenpresse’s word for it, or ours for that matter. The tweets are there for examination.

As a gay man who works in HIV prevention, your stigmatising language is troubling. Wouldn't it stand to reason that if they are shooting a scene for a straight company that they have had the proper testing to do that scene?

In the second tweet and more to follow, Ames did react and seem triggered by being called homophobic by PJWs. She identifies as bisexual. To our eye, it also looks like a debate among performers in the porn industry on the crossover issue, with a number supporting August’s position. So for crossover men in the porno industry doing heterosexual scenes, there is a financial consideration involved. Those men weighed in as well.

This next tweet was typical of those harsher barbs. Now it’s true that such a statement for a regular Winter Watch reader is truly meaningless and laughable; but still, we have hard time imagining a major porn actress overreacting to this. Go get the rope? Really?

We went through subsequent exchanges and the feedback was mostly supportive of Ames. All in all, the PJWs went fairly light on her, with the arguing being rather circular and not overly hostile. And readers can go see for themselves that the cyberbullying narrative just doesn’t combine.

As the debate continued on, a more sinister element emerged. It took the form of a small cadre who issued what can only be called threats. Porn “actor” Jaxton Wheeler, who identifies as pansexual, tweeted this to Ames.

However, by Dec. 4, the day before her death, Twitter comments were largely supportive. The more extreme PJWs had given their little on cue “so you’re homophobic?” one-trick pony jabs and had moved on. Once again, the cyberbullying narrative doesn’t combine.

“Choose who YOU want to work with”
“Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable”
“Share your thoughts”

What was Ames’ state of mind?

Going through her still-public tweets before her death, one could describe her as a hardened alpha personality. We just don’t see a delicate sensitive flower here. She even joked about the animosity. To our thinking — and even setting aside the ridiculousness of this PJW-world view and controversy — it takes a real stretch to think a woman of this nature would crack because of disapproval from a small group of extremist homosexual PJWs.

By late on Dec. 4, the furor had died down. So what does Ames do at 11:40 p.m., hours before her “suicide”? She promotes herself, right up to the bitter end. There are several more like this that are XXX rated.

Besides promotion, August was enjoying coffee and weed at 10:30 p.m. on her last night. “Haunting,” no? Truly has the hallmarks of a suicidal person — not.

The Fishy Nature of the Alleged Suicide

The first report was that Ames hung herself. Only later do we learn she was found hanging  at 3:45 a.m. in a public park with a supposed suicide note in her car. The note made no mention of the “homophobic” row. Drugs and/or alcohol were not found at the scene or in her car.

Displaying a dead body hanging in a public park would be the calling card of elements wishing to make a larger point and send a message. Women generally use more discreet methods, like drugs, and leave much less of a mess.

Ames was universally described as kind hearted. She said she was sexually abused as a child, and abuse was a hot-button issue for her. So the idea that such a person would be insensitive enough to leave her dead body hanging in a public park to possibly traumatize children doesn’t combine either. This was an act of further insult and degradation.

Update: August’s husband reveals she went to the gym that evening. Then she disappeared. Why would someone planning a suicide bother with a gym work out – is that what suicidal people do? There were 50 mph winds and severe fires that night. Seems like perfect cover for abduction and murder. Camarillo, California where she was hung looks like gay central.

When we read comments at r/conspiracy about the case, we noticed a doth-protest-too-loudly, spirited and creative trolling defense of the MSM status-quo explanation. It centered around another organized slur — that Ames did herself in via a death spiral of self-loathing. Of course, as a porn performer, she was an easy target for more innuendo and smears. If you mention the Bill Maher gay mafia theory, you’d find yourself quickly mocked. And it wasn’t just Bill Maher over the target. Porn icon Jenna Jameson weighed in on the threats as well. The icons must conform to the expectations of the LGBT mafia –  or else.

TNN takeaway:  Something is very fishy about the cyberbulling narrative, as there was no torrent of abuse. This is covering for something else. The idea that a thick-skinned and prolific porn performer, after weed, coffee and a workout, committed suicide in the dead of night by public hanging because PJWs — in a mostly civil debate — used the homophobic and hater epithet on her is highly improbable. She was however threatened and refused to apologize. This points to other elements who may have elected to make a “comply or else” example out of her in the PJW-sexual wars brainwashing battleground.
